Rebel Never Dies

Published January 15, 2016 by atirahjewel

So this is it?
He’s returned to the stars,
The Starman who fell to Earth,
Then sold the world,
To make sure that there is always life on Mars.

God bless the girl who weeps fountains,
For there is no other to compare to her lost hero.
People on the streets would stop an stare at how
He was always dancing on top of the world,
Dancing out in space.

At times it seemed like
The lad was insane,
But he just dared to change his way
Of caring about himself,
The prettiest Star.

The dream of him
Filled us all with the fascination
Of his animal grace
Which, sure enough,
Takes a part of us, when we’re loving the alien.

We wanted him to stay, we meant to say but didn’t,
Now we’re watching him dash away to his bed of dead roses,
And light becomes darkness
As the world is shaken by reality and falls down,
And the stars look very different today.

Now where shall we live,
Since he left us for a new career in a new town?
This is the heart’s filthy lesson;
Big brother has left us to join the Gang,
Something in us dies.

We are the dead and he is our Candidate in a tin machine,
The future legend of the past,
Oh! How we wished he would stay in our lover’s story,
But he was a little wonder, unwashed and somewhat slightly dazed,
Who was looking for satellites.

Now I know it ain’t easy
To hang onto yourself when your cracked actor freaks out in a moonage daydream,
But just pretend you’re walking home when the wind blows.
Keep growin’ up and keep telling lies,
So you can drive through the panic in Detroit.

Then you can live your occasional dream
With your Star,
That wild-eyed boy from Freecloud,
But then you realise you can’t,
Because he’s gone and it’s got us all in a whirl.

10 days after wishful beginnings, 2 after celebration,
Nothing remains and God only knows
How we’re all jazzin’ for the return of the Thin White Duke.
Sunday, everything has changed,
It’s the beginning of the end.

So where the fuck did Monday go?
It went to Sorrow, Pain and Confusion.
It went to Life and Death
And was taken away by Time,
Who was waiting in the wings.

We’re drowning in the memory of a free festival,
So let’s dance tonight from station to station
In honor of the spaceboy who was our hero forever and ever,
So we can be heroes, even if just for one day.
Never let me down, Major, fill your heart with these changes.

Ashes to ashes,
Look back and don’t look down,
And I say to myself,
“Monday’s gone but I promised
To love you ’till Tuesday.”

Hours pass and
The new Angels of promise
Are taking our hot tramp on a brilliant adventure,
A fantastic voyage,
Riding on a golden horse.

5:15, the Angels have gone.
9:25, thank God I’m still alive
I kneel before the grave of the New Killer Star,
With five years stuck on my eyes,
9:26, my Death waits there.

There’s something in the air,
The sound of teenage wildlife,
As they scream like babies
Because they’re young,
Being thrown into the South horizon.

The secret life of Arabia,
Where our kingdom come,
And our king awaits,
Out of this criminal world,
Into his real cool world.

He lies among the stars that never sleep,
They are never far away
So the last thing you should do
Is dream that he has faded from his throne,
Because it’s only forever, not long at all.

He’ll come, He’ll go.
He will lay belief of modern love on you
When he traps you with those beautiful eyes,
And skin is sweet with his musky oil
But he’s never gone.

Go outside,
Look up there, he’s in heaven.
In heaven, but still here,
Because he’s the Rebel
And Rebel never gets old.

Rebel never dies.
Ain’t that just like him?

Alright, 11 random facts about myself.

• I wear glasses and I have worn them since I was 18 months old.

• I really, really, really looooove cats. I’ve got the heart of a crazy cat lady 🙂

• I love to cook and bake.

• I typically go through one theme several times for a period of time when writing.

• My favorite genre is drama/romance, and my favorite kind of romance is tragic. I find myself incapable of writing a love poem and/or story and being satisfied with a happy ending. Whether it be by death or betrayal, tragic is always my way to go.

• I read a lot of manga.

• I get terribly bad allergies around this time of the season, so I am braving this through itchy eyes and a stuffy nose.

• I’m not so good with names but I rarely ever forget a face. If I have seen you before, then I most likely know it.

• I’m a Vincent Price fanatic, I absolutely love him.

• I don’t like accepting help from others.

• one of my favourite styles is Gothic Aristocratic.

Question time! I’ll take a couple from Ami.

1. Why do you write?

2. Where is the one place you wish you could live?

3. If you had the opportunity to go back in time to do whatever you wish, would you take it?

4. What’s your writing process like?

5. Among your work, do you have favorite poem? If so which one and why?

6. What made you start writing?

7. What is your favorite topic to write about?

8. Who is your favorite poet or author?

9. What inspires you to write?

10. Is there someone famous that you admire? If so, who?

11. Which time period do you like the most?

And finally, answer time:

1. Why do you write?

Nothing special or different really. I just need something like an open field where I can let my imagination run wild and free. I don’t really have much talents in anything else so writing becomes that outlet, a place to express myself.

2. Do you play an instrument? If so, which one?

Sadly, no. There are a several few that I would like to learn though.

3. In what style do you prefer writing?

I’m not very picky, it really just depends on what kind of mood I’m in.

4. What music is playing on your speakers right now?

At the moment, nothing. But on the speakers of my mind “Slow Burn” by the incredible, talented, beautiful, too-amazing-to-describe-in-words Starman David Bowie has been playing for a while.

5. Do you think in pictures when you write?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Mostly no.

6. What’s your writing process like?

Most of the time I am listening to a song and if I like the melody, I write what I think is fitting to the tune. Usually something just pops in my head and I just let the words flow but there are those sometimes that I have to think hard to know what exactly it is that I want to say. Then comes revision and such, and finally I am done. More than half of my poetry doesn’t make it on here though, to be honest.

7. Among your work, do you have favorite poem? If so which one and why?

This is a hard one. Heart and Soul and Beyond had been a favorite of mine for a while, I never knew why, but I do believe it has changed. I would have to say either As I Lay Dying or  Wingless, A Dream or A Love Story because of the story behind them.

8. What’s your favorite book and why?

I never actually knew the answer to this question. I’ve read so many I can’t choose. If I can name my favorite manga does it count? If so, then InuYasha: A Feudal Fairytale, Rumiko Takahasi is the best!

9. What’s your favorite season of the year?

Winter & Fall.

10. Should you write to/about a specific person do your give the poem to them or do prefer to you keep it?

I prefer to keep something like that to myself. In certain situations, maybe I would give it to them, but overall? No.

11. Instead writing, what other art form can you imagine yourself expressing yourself through or already do express yourself through?

Definitely music because it is something that can touch a person’s soul, and is probably one the most true and intense artistic emotional outlet there is.

Many many thanks again to Monsieur Fidèle for the nomination, whose blog I admire very much myself. Have an amazing day everyone! XD

Another Award

Published June 4, 2012 by atirahjewel

I really late with this one, but I really haven’t gotten on in a while so it’s not entirely my fault. 🙂 This time it is the “Very Inspiring Blogger” award. I have ~Lady Day of 75 Kaleidoscopes to thank. I am honored that I was nominated by her because I myself am very much inspired by her works. Thank you very much for the nomination R.L. King!

So let’s take a look at the rules.

Rule 1: Display the award logo somewhere in your blog.

Rule 2: Link back to the blog of the person who nominated you.

Rule 3: Share seven things about yourself that people don’t already know.

1) I’m not very good at this Ü. I base some of my poems on songs I love or sometimes people I love (who doesn’t).

2) Like most people,  I have started hundreds of discussions but never let them be finished or settled because I am constantly changing the subject.

3) I am very much a potty-mouth

4) I’m a very energetic person. (Not hyper, but energetic.)

5) I always make sure the first thing I do in the morning is listen to music (7 out of 10 times it will be David Bowie)

6) You can always find me quoting lyrics from a song or lines from a movie in just about any given situation.

7) Finally, number 7. I love learning new things and am constantly studying, it may be about how the brain works or how a slinky works, as long as I’m learning something.

Rule 4: Nominate 15 other bloggers for the award and provide links to their blogs.

#1 Hollyanne from hollyanne gets poetic

#2JadedHeart from Thoughts From A Jaded Heart

#3 Ami Fidèle of Perplexing Thoughts

#4 If Only

#5 lonewolfpoetry

#6 David Eric Cummins of The Noise of Silence

#7 Jessica Davis of Authored Angioplasty

#8 Wendy Strohm

#9 Boomie Bol

Rule 5: Notify those bloggers that they have been nominated and of the award’s requirements.

Whew, that was some work, but at least no ‘explain why’ this time. 🙂 Thank you once again to R.L. King, I truly appreciate it. 🙂

I Inspire?

Published May 3, 2012 by atirahjewel

I got nominated for the Inspiring Blog Award by Ami Fidèle over there at Perplexing Thoughts. Thank you Ami!

Rules:

1. Thank the blogger who gave you the award.

Thank you very much for thinking of me and my blog Ami, I’m much obliged. I am very glad that I was nominated by Mr. Fidèle, whose blog I find equally as inspiring as he finds mine. Thank you very much.

2. Tell 7 things about you that have not come up in your blog.

#1 Since this is following the rules I guess this can be one. I have never had the ‘Rules are meant to be broken’ mentality. I may not follow all the rules, but I try. I’m more of a ‘Rules are meant to be followed’ type of person.

#2 I am an ice-cream junkie. I love ice-cream more than any other food besides pie. I guess you could just say I’m a sugar junkie, but my favorite treats are pie and/or ice-cream. My favorite flavor is (not including vanilla, it doesn’t count in my book) mint-chocolate chip. Yum!

#3 I pretty much live for music, no matter what genre, I love it all. One minute I can be listening to classical music, or more likely Baroque music, and the next I’ll be listening to artists ranging from Queen and David Bowie to Led Zepplin to Namie Amuro. I’m open-minded with music.

#4 My favorite song ever is “Under Pressure” by David Bowie and Queen.

#5 I like my writing style much more how it is now than before, but when I read my work I think that from When I Dream of You and before it all have more of the poetry ‘feel’. I feel like everything after it, with the exception of Catching the Darkness and All My Loving, is just like poetry made up of rambling or more like really short stories. 🙂

#6 I don’t really, myself, think my poems are all that great. But for some reason, ever since I wrote it, Heart and Soul and Beyond has been my favorite by far. I don’t think it is the best poem I’ve ever written, but I do love it very much. I also think Silent Tears, Take me Higher and Under This Love Sky are pretty. 🙂

#7 I have two amazing, talented, and beautiful sisters who I love very, very much and wouldn’t trade in for all of the pie à la mode in the world.

I feel like I put too many links to my poems on here. 😦

3. Pass this on to 7 other blogs you find inspiring and explain why.

#1 God Is I Am. I don’t find time to visit here much but when I do I always enjoy what I read. A lot of it is spiritual and beautiful, I often find myself writing a few poems after reading this blog.

#2 sarahjaneprosetry. I love this blog, ‘Raw, honest, and fragile words’ as it says in the header, is what this blog really is. When I read her poems, I get a strong feeling to write myself.

#3 The Silver Poet. Her writings are always beautiful and a lot of them are very deep. One of my favorites.

#4 Mullings of Mind Tramp. I wish this blog was updated more, because when it is, the workings are always amazing. This blog makes me strive to write more beautifully.

#5 Authored Angioplasty. I just really enjoy about every piece posted on here. They make me look back at my own poems and think, ‘Why can’t I write more like that?’ Ha ha.

#6 Monya Neba. I love the short poems (sometimes long) on this blog, and the images used also. Even without the photos I would see the imagery in my own head still.

#7 ☽✵ℳ00ℕṦℌ1И3✵☾. This is one of the few (maybe not few) blogs that make me want to write myself. I love the language used on this one, and the poems are just great too. If you haven’t checked it out then I strongly suggest you to do so. For all of the blogs actually.

I always hated the ‘explain why’ in school.
